great thread marcoballistic - the message is as clear as a pint of Boddingtons. A case of haves and have nots, only the haves can do anything about it. See you in Edinburgh on Wednesday.

the help should come from those who plunder africa everyday, stealing its resources, not from the people. Anyway this is a noble initiative, i dunno how useful, but noble.

cheers malcinbl nice one... and supa, i hear ya and thanks, but i feel if i do what i can and others did likewise, then maybe just maybe something will change, the current state is not good, and your right, africa has to change too, but we must help, we are all the same at heart, we are all human beings, and we should help best we can

I definitely know you mean well but an online petition has literally never made a difference.
On the extremely slight chance that one of the leaders will even be made aware of the petition,
their reaction will most certainly be something like, "Oh really? Ok I'll keep that in mind.".
The petition will then be forgotten before he finishes the word, "mind".
To me, online petitions convey the message, "I care about the cause but only enough to click a checkbox on the internet".
That's almost worse than not doing anything at all.
Actual letters arriving in real mail boxes make a bit more of a difference. It means you took some time, paid for a stamp, etc.
Protesters clashing with police make a difference.
There are a million ways to make a real difference.
Online petitions will never make a difference.
