As long as you're enjoying yourself...do what you like. I don't get to work on much personal artwork anymore, I miss it.

I also understand doing morbid or "shocking" art. About 15 years ago I went through a "crucifixion phase" and did several completely different versions...close up multi media of the hand, wire sculpture on driftwood, pen and pencil of a figure on a cross wearing a Mardi Gras mask and surrounded by various gardening implements...that one even got me a lecture from a minister. The conversations that the weirder images started were usually heated and/or very entertaining. The point I made to any who acted "offended", was, "you have to remember...two out of three of those guys on your hill that day weren't Jesus."

My point is...alter your point of view and make it what you need it to be. Just don't expect everyone else to agree.

I personally can't wait until my kid will be able to flip through my old HR Geiger or Aubrey Beardley books and appreciate the work for what it is. But I figure I should wait til she's ten....yeah...ten should be fine.

The site is ....interesting. In all honesty I get the feeling that
you haven't yet mastered getting the 'vision' in your head onto the canvas,
at least not as vividly as the artwork seems to imply.
Nonetheless, use the art to express yourself, free yourself, or just
that it is yourself.
There seems to ba an association for some people that may not enjoy the 'morbid'
projection of your art, who respond with the 'knee-jerk' idea that they
should let you know that what you do 'truly' is art because
it evokes a response from the viewer.
I will say this to you because I get the feeling that you WANT to be an artist, that you feel an attraction to the concept of 'expressing' yourself in a form that is permanent and can be reflected upon later.
So, I say to you, ONLY YOU can or should make the decision that your work "IS" art and that ONLY you should decide that it is an art to "evoke response" or an art
of self evocation and future reflection.
Historicaly the majority of artist were recording--history,events,people,places ,AND
/or expressing passion-- War,Worship,sexuality....................
tweaking the viewer's nose to get a response was more an art for actors and
writers

Morbid, don't get me wrong. If you and many others think it is art, then it is. I myself think it is showing the dark side of within a person. I really can't enjoy that cause there is allready enough emphasis on the bad things happening in the world. The youth expression is one example of that. Here if someone is acting badly, they say he probably had a bad youth. That is of course a ghost reason, cause everybody is responsible for it's own action.

My reaction was maybe a bit overrated, cause I was very disgusted about the other site you had Brutalism. I still think that that is a really sick site. but than again, maybe I had a very good youth
