well i for one am not getting the kind of pay that i should (i think) i make 34K a year, but i could make more if id go work for some huge firm or ad agency in the city (chicago) prob double my current pay.., But then id have to commute, work crazy hours, and never be home.... i just chose FAMILY over my Career its something close to home (10miles) no traffic, great hours 6a - 2:30p home by 3pm over the $$$.. i just felt my family was more important than working 80hours a week. id rather see them grow up, than just tuck them into bed each day.

I wondered just such a thing...and did a bit of research to find out. It kind of depends on where you are in the country....for example, in Alaska, the range is $10-65/hour, while in New York it's $15-250/hour. The national average, as of September 2005, is $54.22 per hour.
If you go to www.breenerbooks.com/sampleprces you can find out much more detail about the subject...I even printed out a few of their rate charts so that I can show them to clients who balk at paying $50/hour for graphic work.
Any way you slice it, we're underpaid.

now the 34k a year (16.35an hour) is for my 9-5 job so-to-speak...
when i freelance, which hasnt been recently i charge $25 an hour, which is cheap, but i do things really quick, and then add a few hours at the end, if the customer is a pain in the ass
