How did you do this anyhow.... the shades are incredible.. I will one day learn how to do this intricate work with photoshop, but until then my hat is off to you..

Thanks Kansas. I used an elephant photo as reference. The tail is from that photo, but the rest is chopped by hand. I used liquify to give the leaf shape I wanted, then added layers for lighting and shadows, folds of skin, etc.
