cool image but I agree about the shadow. Instead of using a fill or multiply fill, try using an empty curves adjustment layer set to multply. This usually looks much more natural and can be controlled using the opacity slider to reduce the amount. If it isn't enough just duplicate the layer and then set the opacity on the dupe.
