Just in case anyone is interested-- there is a 'cartoony' foot design in the shapes palette of PS-- I opened a new image--stamped the shape--erased bits to get the reality of where the toe creases and such wouldn't touch floor, then just made

a brush from that-- and use "brush tip shape" in the brush drop down menu to do all the angle changes and skews.then I painted them in black on a seperate layer above everything else and set to multiply with the layer transaparency at about 23%.

Making the curved piece of pool wall straight was simply cutting it out of the pic and then flipping it 90 degrees and using filter-distort-sheer a couple times, by then I just needed to smudge a couple small spots in filters-liquify.
