It's supposed to be a silencer right after the shot at a sleeping victim. Ever try to make a night stealth scene? Anyway the silencer and bullet were made from source, smoke from scratch, background is external.

I like this tofu but I find the background distracting...that is, the story might be better told with some part of the sleeping body on the bed visible (an arm, perhaps) and maybe a clock to show the time. As is, the background seems too generic to me.

Hmmm... Well I thought this'd do better. Oh well. Details on the chop:
TofuTheGreat TofuTheGreat
I used a motion blur on the side of the "barrel" of the silencer to give it more of a gunmetal look instead of wood. I also, obviously, changed the color. Used three layers on the silencer alone.

For the bullet I took the mushroom shaped part of the toy and cut out the cone. I stretched it using the perspective tool to get the bullet shape. I cloned the end to get away from the concave curve in the source.

I then used four layers to make it look like a copper-clad bullet. I flattened that and dup'd it adding motion blur to the dup'd layer to create the bullet's motion.

The smoke was done by hand using the airbrush and smudge tools on a layer. Then the layer was dup'd twice and layer blends used to create the effect. I didn't want the smoke to be pronounced but I wanted it to be visible at least.

The background is an add for the audio equipment on the nightstand. Source: [img] sonos.com...

Following Sean's suggestion I lightened up the background immediately after posting this. Anyone else have tips on how to keep the "night" feel whilst making it easier to discern what's happening in the picture?

(to continue from my vote above...) Still, though, I like what is going on here. :)

Thanks rashdog. I totally agree and that's where I wanted to go with the chop at the start. I tried and tried to get a good source of someone in a bed but couldn't find anything that worked. I also didn't have time to take my own shot eithe
