Well seems like someone is deleting my threads Laughing
...moving along

I get error message that reads this:

"Unable to continue because of hardware or system error.."

I have tried all this, maybe someone here knows another way?

Quote:
Solution 1: Delete the Photoshop settings file.

Start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift. Click Yes to the message "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?" when it appears.

Solution 2: Run Photoshop CS2 in a new user account.

Create a new user account that has the same permissions as the account that you use when the problem occurs. If the problem doesn't recur, the original user account may be damaged. For instructions on creating a new user account, see "To add a new user to the computer" in Windows Help or contact your system administrator.

Solution 3: Reset the system clock.

Right-click the time in the bottom right corner of the Windows taskbar and select Adjust Date/Time. Verify that it displays today's date.

Solution 4: Load a new monitor profile.

Use Adobe Gamma or any other calibration software you have installed to change the default monitor profile.

To load a monitor profile using Adobe Gamma in Windows:

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.

2. Double-click Adobe Gamma.

3. Click Step By Step Wizard, and then click Next.

4. Click Load, and navigate to the monitor profiles:

-- (Windows XP) Windows/System32/Color

-- (Windows 2000) Winnt/System32/Spool/Drivers/Color

5. Select one profile, and then click Open.

6. Exit from Adobe Gamma.

Solution 5: Enable the Event Log service.

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.

2. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.

3. Right-click Event Log and select Start.

Note: The Event Log can be disabled in the Microsoft System Configuration utility (msconfig) under the Services tab, but should never be turned off.

Have you recently updated a wacom driver or such, the same thing happened to me and it was the updated wacom driver that was causing the problems.

I do know that Internet Explorer 7 has caused problems with 3rd party applications.

My work has even blocked us from downloading it.

If you have problems again, just go back to IE6.

I wonder if one of your windows updates put a glitch in it. Maybe had a hardware update in it that conflicts with your PS.

same here Jim. My i.t. guy told me not to update to 7. I use firefox anyway but he didn't get into detail as to what the problem was.

I read a blog at Adobe.com about a similar problem. They traced it down to an issue with the fonts installed. The recommended solution was to uninstall all fonts (keep a copy in a separate folder,) restart and reinstall all fonts. Seemed to flush away the error.

Yea i read about it and i did it but still it didn't work, as for IE7 i used firefox too... actually I'm a die hard fan of firefox but few days ago FF became really slow and it wouldn't load the imagess!!1 at one point... so i had to go back to IE and since i was at it i decided to update it to IE7. I don't know if thats where the problem came from since i been really busy to chop and haven't open photoshop until last night .

Shocked

I had to make another user account to use photoshop, that seemed to work.

That's weird. I downloaded IE7 when it first came out and haven't had any problems with PS, or anything else for that matter. IE7 boots up very slowly, but is way better than IE6, imo (still not nearly as good as Firefox...)

I had to uninstall IE7. Every time I closed a browser window my computer crashed. Evil or Very Mad I had 20-some odd windows open from time to time. Crashed Photoshop twice after I had downloaded 7, the second time I said !@^%$# that! And uninstalled IE7. Been fine ever since!
