The software doesn't do the creating. It does the analysis of what
you created to tell if it's fake or not.
I read through a copy of the white papers on how it works. Pretty interesting stuff (major math heavy though). Remember that
fakeorphoto.com thing from last year? They ran analysis on those pics. Some of the "photorealistic" images there actually passed inspection by the software. A few of those pics were obvious fakes to me. I think that a completely from scratch chop, or digital painting, would have a better chance of passing providing the lighting was good.

I scored 8 out of 10 on the first try 9 out of 10 on the second try. Then I had to see what the truth was.
The bonus round is all new images too.
