2007 is coming to a close, and what a year it was for music. What are some of your favorite albums of the year. Can be done in ranking form or just a numberless list.
And remember, it doesn't matter what you like, it's why you like it.
As for me:
1.
Animal Collective - "Strawberry Jam" - This album is probably Animal Collective's most commercial album to date but that doesn't mean that they don't have their unique blend of strangeness. The songs are poppy and inventive and always upbeat. If you haven't heard any music by them before, this is a great intro album.
Best Song: For Reverend Green

2.
Okkervil River - "The Stage Names" Arguably my favorite band currently making albums. Will Sheff can write lyrics better than anyone in the business. Unlike previous albums, although the lyrics deal with some pretty serious subjects, the music is nearly always pure energetic rock. I love every single track on this album. Again, this is a great Okkervil entry album, but their masterpiece is still "Black Sheep Boy."
Best Song: Unless It's Kicks

3.
Justice - "Cross" This is the most infectious album of the year, hands down, whether you like dance music or not. With top notch production, invention, musicality, and dancability, don't miss this album. I dislike most dance music so for this to make my top 3 albums of the year means something.
Best Song: (maybe) D.A.N.C.E

Other notable albums:
A.A. Bondy - "American Hearts" - Nice folk-blues rock.
Le Loup - "The Throne Of The Third Heaven Of The Nations' Millennium General Assembly" - Crazy title, crazy-good album.
Vampire Weekend - "Vampire Weekend" - Crazy mix between pop-rock and classical.
There are many more, but it would take too long to mention them all. Great year for music.
