well spent 22 hours, Awesome chop. I like it when experts like you tell they put almost a day to do the work. Some think that faster means better, which is not true. Congrats and Bravo.

i like the whole looking the most, not a big fan of yr work on fluidified fire here Stephen.( I had to be honest with u.)
Patre Patre
Terrific detail work on the feathers, color scheme that matches the theme and a depthed background that complements and highlights the theme. The image also has a very strong forground presence which focuses the viewer's attention.

excellent work on the bird (to the detail) although I think you could have made this even better as an all source doing some background from the original image.to me this background distracts from the impact of the bird.still an exceptional entry

pffft... I'll have to wait til monday to vote, cause my bro is sleeping over here and already voted for it in my computer. :P Phoenixes rocks!!!!

a broomstick!! It is all about details granulated, it seems that they were there, but they weren't. Details make the difference between an artist and an amateur.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
and the difference between being able to drink, and being legal too...maybe

With artists, I think "time" is kind of a relative thing. Some may think that 22 hours is way to long, while with others it may be just a drop in the bucket. It's also in how much you enjoy using that time. Personally I love take'n alot of time on a chop.

Thanks everyone. I have to admit I took full advantage of the month to chop, as I worked on this off and on for about 3 weeks. If any of you who had issues with would like to comment or make suggestions about what you didn't like feel free.
billtvshow billtvshow
Cause I can still learn a great deal.
claudiolky claudiolky
Your work is a lesson for us... You are a great PS teacher. About your comment at my work, thanks a lot. I improved it with more contrast. You were completely right. Now my work pops

hey stephen, did this guy have a ratherstrong curry last night ;oD
billtvshow billtvshow
my last chop? retirement? never! ;P
Claf Claf
You asked for comment & suggestions...
Claf Claf
I think if you compare with the source, the body is a bit flat, needs more shadows& highlight on wing & shoulder for exemple. Also the flames can be less complex and partially more transparent & blur. But very nice & hard work! Lot of work! :)
Claf Claf
I figure the highlights on shoulder & neck doesn't have to be strong like on the source (metal reflexion) but has to be there.
billtvshow billtvshow
Thanks Claf, I'll work on some revisions the next chance that I get.
Claf Claf
You know, doing a transition of bird turning in flames is really something hard to do. And the best way to increase skills is to try difficult stuff & spending time on it. Again... very nice work! :)
marcoballistic marcoballistic
I feel all warm inside getting within 11-12 of this Ste, this is a precision procuction of how to kick ass, on the right day this would have easily been touching the high end of the 80's, great and deserved win bud

Congrats Steve! Hope to see more of our work.
