Loads of little extras - what a chilling story this tells... but I love it!

love the sealed doors, and the repair work is solid if you hit it big, think some of the shadows would be darker and a little sharper, but I nearly crud my pants while looking around this image, superb emotional and atmospheric work

With the photo realism in the background and with the chair, the girl looks out of place to me. What got ya the vote is the subtle use of your externals and the face in the light IMO with out the girl would make this a more chilling image. Nice work.

Wonderfully weird. Great update from the dark original. Keep in mind that although the light is hitting the child and the chair, it would not light the back of the room in the same way.

how can a spotlight , lightning the background behind the girls head?
Sjitske
Good point ron, I adjusted slightly head lighting. But mainly the head of the girl. The back ground is lit because it shines over head. ;)
ReyRey
I love the scene. The light that is hitting here needs to effect the chair a bit more as bright as it is hitting her head. The beam of light , to me, looks like it is coming from behind her on the left side yet the shadow under the chair is from

If these items were fixed, this would be a winner for me. ( I think she is pooping her pants. That's what my son looks like when he is going. hahahah)

Yup Rey u r right... Changed and hopefully better ;)

Yep, Better.. But the shadow under the chair is still going in the wrong direction.

[img] i20.photobucket.com... I set up a quick model to replicate your image: [img] i20.photobucket.com...

ReyRey
It's hard to tell...Is the light coming from in front of her??? or behind her??? If it is behind her, then the light would not be hitting the back cushion. If it is in front of her then the light would not be hitting the back of Her left arm.
ReyRey
Sorry for so many comments. It's easier if you just quickly set up something with a light the way you want it and then replicate that. Ya know what I mean?
ReyRey
If this was a job, I would quickly sit my child in a chair and set up a light and take a photo so I get the lighting and shadow right. Sometimes it is really hard to imagine correctly in your head.
Sjitske
The more comments the marrier Rey ;) cuz they're useful. the light is coming from front (bit left) centre. If it is from behind then here face etc.. should be darkened...right? :) guess the chair is too lighted on the left side. At the moment no one
Sjitske
arround to use as a guinea pig for lighting. but u r right that's the best way to check cuz it is difficult to do it from the top of my head. gonna give it a shot again to fix it. ;)

I LIKE THE FACE IN THE LIGHT
the burning couch
I was think'n it might look better if the light beam wasn't so tapered. As it is, it would be the size of a pin-hole at that ceiling height.
ReyRey
I was think the same thing BC. It would help show that the light is in front of her.
Sjitske
Umh you guys mean that the lightbundle at the top is too narrow? should I broaden it up? ;) don't exactly know what you mean?
the burning couch
Yeah..in short "widen the beam" mostly at the top. This would also make the light more effective ,I think.

Congrats on the win. I'm sorry to say, but I think the lighting was better before this very last update. It now appears to be coming in at an angle from behind. The light hitting her appears to be coming from slightly in front to her right.
