Just terrific Sage! Wonderful post. The irony is very funny. The composition and water effect is superb. And the extension without deteriorating the quality of the image makes it a very compelling image.

Where's the lens flare? I gotta have my lens flare! What this chop needs...is MORE lens flare! I goota a hunger for the lens flare and the only way to fix it is................ more lens flare.

I know what's missing : refraction. Sage, you should've listened to me last time I mentioned refraction. http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/73420/display.html The secret is in the refraction!

wait a minute...before everyone gets all excited about this image, you should know that this has been photoshopped. how incredibly dishonest!

photoshopmaster
That doesn't look like "real" water. To make it look better, try using some lens flare.
sage
HA! you guys with your knee-slapping comments! :) Thank you for your comments and votes!

Claf
photoshopmaster, I'm not sure about using lens flare!?!? And I took a look at your "glowing globe" and I thought about something... to make it look better, try using glasses! Maybe you can see "real" water! :)

Feral Hamster
i have no idea why this has so many votes--this is NOT a real fishbowl, fish or cat! This is just a PHOTO of them!! they are not REAL!!! someone call a moderator here to remove this phony baloney!

sage
HA! Rabid Rodent!

photoshopmaster: I'm not sure what you mean by using lens flare to make the water look more real. I admit, the water can be more transparent and less blue or soapy, as bud put it. But I don't see how adding lens flare would help...
Goat1981
No no no. I agree with photoshopmaster. You should put lens flares all over this image, in random places. As you know, the lens flare filter is ALWAYS a welcome addition to any photoshop job. Use it often.

Michel: the secret is in refraction, reflection, and shadows. You are absolutely right. All three are very tricky, each depends on the angle of the subject with regards to the viewer's eyes. I don't know how much refraction there would be when a s

subject in water is seen from directly above. In the example you listed, I did try to simulate refraction. I guess I was not that successful :) I gotta say, though, Michel, that you have one of the sharpest eyes here (judging by your comments), and I

My apology Sage if my comment appeared serious; you did a terrific job and there's nothing really I could pick at. Then again, the texture of the table seems a little...
sage
Ha, Michel! no need for apologies. My response might also seem too serious, although I meant what I said about your sharp eye. I am usually laughing when I type stuff, but, unfortuately, this may not come out in the writing. Don't sweat it! Seriously.
