How did you get your PSC nickname?
Kinetic_BE started back in the old days at mIRC. Kinetic standed for my name as a DJ, and BE for Belgium.

What is your real name and age?
Marcel, 32 at the moment (2012)

Where are you from and what do you like best about being there?
Belgium. The chops ofcourse. I really love digital arts.

What do you do to keep the bills paid?
I run a computerstore.

What do you do in your spare time?
Photoshop (obviously), spending time with the family, a little gaming now and then and I play Othello in championships (Othello is a board-game like Chess)

How did you find PSC, and what do you like most about the site?
I joined in 2003, looking for Photoshop possibilities. I never really used the side back then. In 2008 I started Photoshop again.

If you could change one thing at PSC, what would it be and why?
A whole lot :-)

Is there any other information about you would like to pass on?

How many hours per week do you spend on PSC?

What other sites, not Photoshop related, do you like to surf?

What tools do you use to chop?
At the moment I use a Intel Core i5-2500k, 8 GB DDR3-1600 Memory, 120 GB Solid State Drive in Raid1, a 6850 ATI Radeon and about 6 GB of storage. I work on Windows 7 with CS5 Design Standard

What gets your creative juices flowing, how do you create a masterpiece?
Idead pop up while I work on something.

What inspires you?
Good photoshoppers

Do you have a system? Does a chop have to be done a certain way following steps or are you a messy chopper and just go with the flow?
I can be a bit messy in PS as I never flatten anything :-)

What style of chop do you prefer to create?
Fantasy

Filters, brushes and techniques: Which do you use, and not use, and why?
I avoid using filters. For brush-work, I just use standard brushes and the chalk-brush.

When do you know that you have it just right, or is it constant changes up until, or after, you post?
Usually halfway my chop. When it feels right, then it usually gets better toward the end. It's just a feeling. Sometimes it flops and those are the moments I shouldn't upload my works.

What is the limit to what you will chop?

Are there any tips and/or tricks that you would like to pass along to less experienced choppers?
Yeah.. take advices and study.

What is your favorite type of source image, and why?
It really depends on what I want to do with it. I like views, nature and objects.

There is often talk about how the source is used and to what extent it should be. What are your views on all sources, outside source use and animations?

What is your preferred resource for outside source images?

In your opinion what makes a good chop?
Idea + execution

Do you have a system to get things started?
No, I just open my source image and start masking things out until a good idea pops up.

Have you ever completed a chop and then decided not to enter it in the contest? If so, why?
A few times. Usually nude-chops.

After you finish your chop do you just post it or seek opinions of family and/or fellow choppers first?
I post it.

If some one finds a fault in your work do you change it or stay with what you posted?
I might change it, but it depends. If it's a major mistake, then I fix that right away, if it's something small, I rather leave it or fix it after the competition. It just depends on how happy I am with it.

What qualities do you look for when deciding to vote on a chop?
Execution, idea and composition.

Some member prefer not to vote for filtered chops or animations. Is there any particular style/type of chop you won't vote for?
I'm not a fan of photo-realism together with sloppy created Photoshop-items in it. Only a few people can create items in Photoshop which look photo-realistic.

Time is always a factor, how much time do you spend on a chop and how much time is too much?
Somewhere between 45 minutes and 3 hours.

We all love to get votes. Now are you a constant vote checker or do you just let it go and check once a day? (be honest)
I check it quite often. I want to see how I'm doing in the contest as it tells me if I made something good or not. If I'm not too happy with my entry, I probably check it out once a day.

What chop of yours did not do as well as you expected?

What do you consider your best chop so far?

What do you consider your worst chop so far?

Who is your favorite chopper out there and why?
At PSC? That would be Meaty. His ideas and mysterious chops really inspired me from the beginning. I wish he'd chop more often.

What do you NOT like to see in a chop, and why not?

What is the best chop of all time?

Do you have any other PSC related comments to add?
