How do I sign up?Signing up is easy and FREE! Click here to get started
Does it cost anything to join? Not a penny! Our site is FREE to join. We do offer a paid premium service with too many benefits to list here. Click here to learn more.
Where is my confirmation e-mail?The e-mail should have arrived a few minutes after you signed up. However, these e-mails are automated and sometimes get blocked by your ISP or junk mail filter. Check to see if it is in your junk mail folder or click here to contact us, and we can activate the account manually.
Who moderates this site? The list of active moderators can be found here: PSC Mods Group.
Can I have multiple accounts?Short answer: no. Multiple accounts, aka aliases, are not allowed. The reason is quite simple, because users are not allowed to vote for themselves using such accounts. If a user gets caught cheating in this way, his alias votes will be removed. Other measurements can be taken at the discretion of admins and moderators. This can range from a simple warning to a banishment of all the accounts (including the main one).
Can I post news on PSC?The short answer is "Yes!" To do so, go to the news section and scroll down to the very bottom. Then fill out the form and follow the instructions. Please note that all posted news must be approved by a moderator before going live on the website.
How can I reset my password? If you've forgotten your password, you can use the password reset form to send yourself a new one.

How do I enter a contest? It is easy to enter into one of our contests.
When is the next contest? We have contests running all of the time! Click here to view them all.
How long do contests run? Most contests are open for 72 hours (3 days). Other contests are noted with beginning and ending times.
How do I win a prize?Anyone can win! Just enter an image into a contest that offers a prize and watch the votes pile up!
How many entries can I submit per contest? You may submit 2 entries in most contests. Other amounts will be noted in the contest.
Are adult images suitable here?Sorry, but they are not. Anything posted to our site that is offensive in nature will be removed, including nudity. If the incident appears to be intentional, we hold the right to use your IP address to contact your ISP for further investigation. These rules also apply to those who abuse obvious copyright rules. We try very hard to abide by all written and non-written laws and regulations.
Can I edit one of my contest entries?Yes. To do so, click on your image. In the right hand column, under "image options" there is a "edit this image" link.
What kind of image files can I enter? In most contests images must be a JPEG or a GIF file. The size of the file must be under 125kb in actual size. JPEG image dimensions must be less than 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. Animated GIFs must be less than 550 wide by 450 high. Minimum dimensions for both are 500 width x 350 height. If you are getting an error message, try reducing the file size and/or dimensions just a bit and then uploading again. Upgrade Your Account to a PSC Advantage to break free of these limitations!
Why was my entry removed from the contest?Site moderators remove images for various reasons. Some times the image file is broken, other times the image is offensive. You will typically get an e-mail notification with the reason for removal.
Why won't my image upload? We have worked to make our uploading tool as flexible as possible, but from time to time there are snags. Be sure that you saved the image in RGB mode and not CMYK. The image also must fit the size and resolution requirements for the contest. If you are having trouble, try saving it so that it is at least 5kb smaller than the maximum allowable size. We will be glad to help, just post in the forums to request assistance.
How is a contest winner determined? The winning image of each contest is the one that receives the most votes. If multiple images end up with the same amount of votes, the tie-breaker is which image was created and uploaded first. When an image file is updated while the contest is still open, the entry time is set to the time of the last edit. Editing an image after the contest has ended or just changing the description/notes does not affect the entry time.
I've won! How do I get my prize?Congratulations! To get your prize you must send an email to PSC with your full contact details. Once received we will forward your information to the prize sponsor. Copy and paste the following in the contact form and fill it out.
I don't like my entry. Can I have it removed? We remove images under certain circumstances such as copyright violation, double entry, and offensive content, etc. Since our scoring system relies on members keeping their submitted images in their portfolio, we can't remove an image simply because it didn't get any votes, or the author doesn't like it. However, don't forget that you can always edit your entry if you are dissatisfied with it. In addition, if you wish to hide your image from the public, you can do so by going to your portfolio and clicking the red "X" above the thumbnail of the image you wish to hide. You can always unhide it later if you wish.
Contest Types and Rules
What are the rules for anonymous contests?Anonymous contests are the same as other daily contests, except that the identities of both authors and voters are hidden. In anonymous contests, you must maintain the anonymity of your entry both on and off site until the contest is over. Your entry itself, its title, and/or its description should not reveal who you are and any links you provide in the description (i.e. a link to your external sources) should also maintain that anonymity. Any comments you make in the contest should follow suit. Additionally, you should not attempt to share entries (for the purpose of securing votes or not) outside of PSC during anonymous contests, as this could reveal your identity to potential voters. Any evidence of an infraction of these rules may lead to the removal of your entry, at the discretion of site admin and moderators.
What is a speedchop?Basically it's just another contest, with the difference that advantaged people also have no access to the source until opening time. Everybody is treated equal, just like when this site started.
Should I mention my external sources? You should not use an external source that would deceive voters into thinking that you did significant manipulations to the source that you did not do. Entries believed to be in violation of this rule will be removed. Enforcement of this rule is subject to moderator discretion. As a general rule of thumb, if you submit an entry that relies heavily on an external sources in this way, you should post a link to those sources along with your entry.

How do I vote?Click on an image entry in any open contest. Just below the image, there is a voting form. Once you have posted just 10 entries of your own, you are able to vote!
Why do I have to have 10 images before I can vote?Members of our site take great pride in their work, as they should. Once you have posted 10 images into contests, you will have a good understanding of how everything works. Entering 10 images only takes a few days with all of the contests on this site!
Can I comment without voting?Sure, just enter your comment in the area provided and click on the "comment" button. Your comment will be recorded and placed on the site. It will not add a vote unless you click on the "vote" button.
What is VPP?Votes Per Posts, or votes per contest entry. Simply the number of your total votes divided by the number of your total posted entries. The higher, the better.
Can I make negative comments? If you feel that an image was not up to par for whatever reasons, you are free to comment on it. However, if you place negative comments on another's hard work, they better be constructive and as graceful as possible! We will not tolerate abuse of our valued site members. There are many different ability levels here. They are ALL welcome.
What kinds of behaviors could lead to me being banned from the site? While we don't like to ban people from the site, occasionally there are times when we feel it is in the best interest of the community. In general, users are banned for behavior that consistently tears down the community rather than build it up. Users are typically given warnings via private messages and the opportunity to correct their behavior prior to being banned from the site. Depending on the behavior and other variables, we reserve the right to ban a user for as long as we deem necessary.
What is the PSCore statistic?PSCore is a ranking formula that weights and calculates one's win percentage, rank percentile per post, and votes per post (VPP). It also takes into account the changes in the voting system and site activity over time by comparing one's VPP against a floating average VPP of other users who registered at the same time or later. Please note that only users that have posted at least 10 images are eligible to ensure proper mathematical sampling.
Below is the inner workings of how it is done:
WP = Win Percentage
PSCORE = WP + (RPP/2) + (3(VPP/FAV))
What is the PSC Advantage? You mean, what ISN'T the Advantage? It is our premium account with many many benefits. Click here to see why so many have signed up.
I've upgraded my account, but still don't have access to the Advantage section. What is wrong? If you've paid via eCheck, then please note that 3-5 business days are needed to clear the eCheck. Once cleared you will gain access. However, if the system here at PSC is found to be at fault, we will gladly add 3 months for free to your account.
Why can't I post links to websites?PhotoshopContest is protecting itself with an anti-spam system. It simply prevents new users from posting web links in the forums until 2 specific requirements are met. For more details see the error message when trying to post a web link. You can post links in the following format though: domain . com /folder/image.jpg
Are you associated with Adobe? We are in no way associated with Adobe. They are a software company, while we are a web site and offer no similar services. Many of our site members use Adobe Photoshop to edit images. We encourage you to click the previous links to learn more about their great product line-up.
Can I use copyrighted material in my entries? Not unless you contact the proper owners of the image and obtain permission. Contact them first, you may be surprised at how many will give you the OK.
An image of mine has been placed on your site without my permission! We try out best to keep the site free other people's hard work. Sometimes, however, our users sneak one past us. We will promptly remove any offending image and warn the author. If they have been warned before for the same reason, we will delete their account and ban them from using our site. In short, we will do everything possible to clear the site of any unwanted presence of your copyrighted material in a timely manner.
