excellent this snap to guides thing is exactly what I needed thanks!! Makes life a lot easier.
Instead of using it with rectangles I 'll use it just with the line tool, effect is the same of course. ...

Make sure that the colour you are typing with is different to the background colour.

see what i mean?

As in, you can't see white text on a plain white background.
