Can someone fill me in please.... A few of these gifs listed above seem to be well over even the advantage limit? There's even one there that's 1 Mb? Are these old? Was there no limit at one stage?

But you could copy your JPG background to match the number of frames in the ani, then paste frame to frame and reanimate. It will then be a GIF.
