Marxy, thanks.
You showed how layer blending and effects can be pretty effective by stacking them up. In addition to layer blending/effects (which incidentally, I don't consider to be an advanced PS technique), what I saw in this chop was your ability to cut and paste and make shapes with fill colors. What I did like was your actual character. It was creative how you peiced it together from the given starting image.

I'll be interested to see how you can chop without relying so heavily on these same effects and abstract shapes.

Something like...hmmm...putting Mr. Smiley in the desert zipping along beside one of those starwars racing pod thingees...or some other idea like that. Making abstract shapes has never been a big winner here.

(Obligatory "out")
If you don't care about winning, then more power to you.

Cheers.

of course. I knew that.

classy is good...just...you're gonna need more than abstract shapes to win...oh...wait...nevermind.

I would say your abstract backgrounds are pretty good at this point (unless you just got lucky this one time). Why not push yourself to make something a little different in the next contest. Practice something you arent already good at.

something like dunno's there. Smile See the difference?

Marx that's just begging this crowd for trouble. Twisted Evil

If anything posting your .psd's and/or sources regularly will earn you the respect of the community. And while sharing the .psd link in your entry comments is great; etiquette around here is to put it the forums AFTER the contest is over. Just an FYI for next time.

I'm loving all the .psd sharing lately. I'm thinking of getting PS just so I can see these things properly. GIMP sucks are displaying the layers and blends so I often don't really learn anything from them. But I keep grabbing them so that one day....

Very Happy

Where was this ever said? I would think a PSD before the contest is over, especially if an image is questioned, might spawn more votes. I have never seen such etiquette discussed to any conclusion.

besides, doesnt ReyRey, bless his heart, always post his psd with his entry at the start of the contest?

Show you are, ugh, correct. I've edited to reflect that I meant posting in the forums after the contest not during. By all means post it with the entry just not in the forums before the contest is over. I'm surprised you of all people didn't jump all over that. Laughing

OH PUHLEASE!
since when do I jump all over anybody???!!

Although, I still dont get it...
If it's with the image at the start of a contest, how is it different if it's posted in the forum? You're making no sense Tofu. Very Happy

Posting in the forum while the contest is still active is akin to advertising the entry (imo). Such actions can skew voter behavior. I could swear you pointed this out in the past.

This contest is ending so it's probably a moot point*.
