Okay... ACTUALLY, I WOULD like to know: do you ever have unfinished chops? If so, do you ever go back to them and/or what do you do with them, if anything? I just looked through some of mine and thought they'd make dandy toilet paper... if I had soft paper that could go through the printer...

I print and use marco's finished chops for it... why don't I see that option?

I tried to use Marx-man's... but they cause me allergy...

A long long time ago, this was a thread at psc, though it was phrased over vs under. That was right after I first joined. Nostalgia! Cool

I have crazy amounts of unfinished contest chops. There's been several contests that I started but didn't finish for whatever reason (chop wasn't turning out how I wanted, no time to finish, too late in the game to be worth uploading, etc.). I keep every chop's working file (.xcf GIMP file and now .psd PS file), submitted .jpg/.gif and external used.

I also keep a copy of every "side game" chop (chop the chopper, chatroom chops; may they rest in peace; etc.) in the same manner as the contest chops. Same goes for every every photo retouch/repair/modification.

My reasoning is that I can always look back on these for either inspiration, gauging how far I've progressed, additional externals, reminder of techniques or to just work on improving them if I ever find the time. Laughing

About the only chops I don't keep anything for are the ones I do for OperationPhotoRescue. Those I feel are not "mine" from the start and are not mine at the end. So once they are approved I delete everything related to them.

Hey, Tofu, good answer! Smile

On my desktop is a folder "Photoshop Contest". Within that are now dozens of folders, one for each contest source. Whether or not I've finished a chop and entered that contest, the next contest source I download gets the next number in sequential order. Ie, 001 Pocket Watch, or 063 Stone Silo. Every outside source or file generated gets kept in the folder with the original source. And I keep it all, too... butt (Wink) I've rarely gone back for any of it. I have around 70 such folders with original sources, and many have possible outsides sources and .psd files that were never finished... but I only have 64 total entries... and several contests have two entries, meaning the files would share the same folder. I have AT LEAST 20-25 unfinished chops or sources I never even worked on after downloading them... enough to clog the toilet if I were to flush them all out. Laughing

Glad you are so impressed by your own work, Marx-man. It's good to have self-esteem and confidence, and you seem to have an ample supply of both. Looking down your nose, it's kinda hard to see much beyond it, though.

The question, beside which way do you hang your TP, was what do you do with chops you have NOT finished. Maybe you haven't been with us long enough to have many of those, but do try to stay on topic, please. Wink
