Photoshop Contest Forum Index - General Discussion - ADVICE NEEDED - how to get wedding invitation printed - Reply to topic

Hi All - I thought some of the graphics professionals might have some notion of how to go about this.

I've offered to design artwork to make a custom contemporary-feel wedding invitation for a friend's upcoming wedding. She will want about 120 invitations.

Has anyone here done something like an invitation or greeting card?
I have the sense of what will go in to the design -I want it to be full color - may include photography, but I don't know how to produce the card once I have a design. How should I go about getting this printed?

I've done wedding invites and baby announcements and such...

What size are you going to do them?

I'm thinking 5" x7" but we're in the really early planning stages so this is still open to change - thanks DP

well I have done a few for friends and a few work mates...and I just did the original design and then they took it to on of them off set or digital print process places and got em copied off. Here in Oz Photo kevron will even set type for individual names and print them as a printing list...so ask around Im sure there is some thing similar in your country

actually Office Depot or Kinkos do a great job. Just take the file on a disk to them and they'll make copies. I believe Kansas had copies of the Ben and Jerry stuff everyone just made for Jerry and she had them printed out at Office Depot.

Hey Evelyn,

I do invitations, business cards, christmas cards, etc. all the time.

What I suggest is to export the finished piece from your layout program ( I usually design my stuff using Adobe Indesign) to a print ready pdf. Be sure to embed all fonts, spot colors, and leave about an 1/8 inch for bleed.

As Mindgraph suggested take the print ready pdf to Kinkos or another office place and have them print them. I have had good results using them. Sometimes I will upload the file to an online printing place. There are many reputable ones on the web.

Any questions, just pm me.

Thanks all for your advice. I've had mixed results from the local kinko's - seems their color settings change on their color printer, and every time I talk to someone different, but I may give them a sample first to see how they would print it. Kinko's would be the most convenient solution.
I'll get this further along and just see!
