Micose, I love your Iced Over, frozen being. It was well-deserving of the win, imho! Smile

ive noticed that in these past contests normally the first entry wins. still sorta the case now but not so much...

People tend to pic their favourite source of the week/month/whatever and chop it and they would spend a lot of time on it because it was their favourite. I guess it may be because the ones that are done way in advance are usually the ones which people have spent the most time on, therefore are the best quality.

I wish that were (consistently) true. Rolling Eyes

Exactly. Much of the time, it seems like it was a race to see who can post the fastest, if you look at how quickly the first pre-posts are tacked on to the new week of images. This may be a fun game, but the first four or so entries often reflect that game and look like "quick chops" to me. (And no, this is not consistently true, even among the same people racing to be "first.") Most of the later pre-posts tend to look more carefully done, more complex and detailed, like more time had been spent on them. It's a frequent pattern I've noticed, simply based on my own humble opinion.

Edit & P.S.: An occasional "quick-chop" contest where NO ONE would have the start image ahead of time, making speed of paramount importance would be a lot of fun (as has been requested by many of the "old timers," i.e.: Chopper, Chicken).

getting back to what Heamburger observed, and Caf & others please help me w/this one, but the way the site USED to look...only the first 3 or 4 posted images showed (a little larger too) instead of a dozen, like now. SOooooooo...if one of the first entered had some BAM effect, yeah, I think they had quite the advantage.

*edit* Caf says it the first posted images were on the home page before the site was re-designed. Grefix has archives that show once you clicked on contest 12 images showed, like now.

You're remembering the format of the PSC homepage before the last two or so updates. The source pic for the day plus the four top entries were displayed.

Nice chop and win by Galv.
The last time I was in the first position at the opening of a contest I had posted just six days before, right now ya can look through weeks 3 through 5 and there are an abundance of '0' & '1' pre- posted images.
Let's not mistake appearance with actual situations. Books are not read
