Doig a treasure hunt for the kids this weekend and I have a picture from google maps of my house that i want to make it have the same color of the old maps you'd see on TV. Dirty, fragile...yellowish...whatever.

I tried messing with the color and it's not doing what i was hoping for...anyone have any ideas?

thanks guys/gals

Try Turning it to Black and white then adding some yellow color, like sepia, but without the brown.

Post a link to the map you are using. It would make it easier for us to help. Also try adjusting the HUE/
Saturation levels. YOU can achieve about any color you want with the sliders. For the edges, use the eraser then go back over the outside edge with the burn tool.

Best way to do this is to take your finished white paper map and blot it with a wet tea bag until it's completely covered and soaked through.

Crumple it and let it dry overnight.

When dry, tear the edges and maybe even burn them a bit with a lighter.

Rub a bit of vegetable oil over the page to give it a slightly translucent look.

Now you've got a map that looks like it's been sitting outside for 100 years.

it also helps to bake it in an oven for a little bit. gives it that crusty old paper appearance and helps brown and age it.

The one time I did something like this I ripped the blank page out of the front, and the one in the back of my really old Websters Dictionary to print on.. It was perfect and heavy stock too.
