Going to the python site and downloading Python 2.5 did it for me.

thanks FF, it seems hapier now, have you registered at blender blender noobie site? i kept the same name: splodge, now i got a puter that can handle 3D rendering again i'll be in and out of there all the time,

No, if i remember correctly its mostly video tuts, and I have dial-up.
The blender sites I visit most are:

It has great forums, lots of helpful info, tuts, etc in the forums.
and

this site is pretty much a blender news feed, and is updated a ton (1+ times a day, usually)
http://blender.org
the official site has some great tutorials and a great gallery.

a cool blender e-zine.

It is nice and free and since the latest major updates they changed things over to be more user friendly. Now I didn't say easy to use! Just search the web and see all different tutorials and uses.
