a coworker of mine brang to my attention "adobe lightroom 1.0" i was wondering if anyone had any experience in using this software and what exactly it does? as far as i understand about it.. is that its a photograph manipulating software for "raw" formats.

other than that i haven't got a clue about it or how to use it. i was wondering if some one could better explain it to me if they have the time. thanks

I can't 'splain it since I've never used it but this technique shows how you can do stuff in lightroom and the same thing in PS. Might help you to understand it a bit?

I had lightroom for a while but it didn't worked for me, most of its features are to enhance images and give them different tones and such. Things that we could do with photoshop in the first place. Lightroom was developed mostly to keep an organized library of images. The only downside for me was that every time you hook up a sd or compact flash card, it would automatically download the images taking loads of time and even freezing up my system.

Lightroom is used for color correction and to keep your photographs organized.
If you have to correct 1 photo then dont bother doing it in lightroom and use PS instead, but if youre a photographer and have a bunch on images then lightroom is a very good solution.
It has built in camera raw features which you can use on jpegs too.

And for me - if id have to color corect 10 images, id choose lightroom instead of photoshop.

Hope this helps
