Polish... someone took over your account! Someone helpful....

Wink

www.webmonkey.com

From the sounds of it, you have to learn a lot of the basics (i.e., you can't host things on your hard drive and expect people to actually see it online).

I'm finishing up a quick video that should show you what you need to do. It's gotta export, and then I have to upload it. Shouldn't be more than 20-30 minutes before it's ready.

well thanks for all your helpfullness...though i never said i was trying to make a webpage in photoshop!

what i am trying to do is by using photoshop, make an html layered picture type thing, that i can put in emails to customers, potential customers etc, with links and stuff in...i can do the slices in photoshop, not a problem...just have the difficulty of making the images i used to make the thing in photoshop show up on something that isn't my comp, bcoz for come reason it always saves in my comp rather than a web u r l

i have been looking at the diy webpage maker sites that polish sent me - quite fun, and helpful...but...(real newbie blonde question coming up)...when making my webpage like it tells me to, i follow all the instructions but it still saves/opens as a computer html not a web one...if u know what i mean...ie C:/blah....why does it keep doing this to me? why am i so stupid not to do it right???????????????????????? Evil or Very Mad

You need to host your files on a web server somewhere.

So, you CAN save it to your C drive, then upload the folder(s) with the HTML, images, etc... to that server and view it that way.

Step 1: Locate a web server, whether you buy space from a host, or have access to a current host.

Start with that, then you'll be able to move to the next step.

Without a place to store it ONLINE, you can't do much.

Thank you very much dewking, that's what i needed to know...i will get access from the people who i am sort of doing this for via my bloke lol...just he didnt have a clue and im creative etc so the design side of it i got down to a T...just as a html virgin so to speak, i didnt realize i needed a web server to make it work...though i knew people couldnt see it if it was just saved to my comp....

another potentially dumb question...can i use places like photobucket? if not fine, didnt think so and if yes, glad im wrong and then how do iuse and open those images in photoshop to finish my html emailthingy off??

you all are great Smile thanks again and i'll be back to let you know how it goes!!

http://www.pschost.com/webpage/webpage.mov

To make this work in an email you have to make a few changes (This only works in safari for mac). Just open the file inex.html in a text editor or html editor.

Look for something like:

Code:
<img src="images/webpagetutorial_01.jpg" width="600" height="84" border="0" alt=""></a></td>

All you have to do is change "images/webpagetutorial_01.jpg" to include the full URL. Using the same url in the video you would change it to "http://www.pschost.com/webpage/images/webpagetutorial_01.jpg".

Do this for every image.

Then in Safari go to your uploaded webpage and hit command+i. This will open your email software and create a new email with html formating.

Now you're ready to send it to whoever you want.

Hope this helps.
