the other contests that i've done, i've been able to see the votes before i uploaded mine. but i just uploaded mine to the fancy flush contest and i still can't see all the votes. there isn't even the different sorting options at the top. is this because i don't have a certain number of contests entered yet, or maybe because i'm not a paying member? or could it be because this one is different being that it's a contest with a prize involved? and i'm not a paying member so i can participate, but not see the votes or win?

yes. it is a prize contest which is anonymous, so you wont see the votes till the very end.

you will have the same issues on Thursdays. Those are anon too.
