Since some time now I have this "nano cube aquarium" on my desk with little shrimps (crystal reds) in it. They are really fun! Very nosy and actively digging around in the gravel. They pick up a gravel, search for food and when done, they throw it away. Shrimps are very social and like to be in company:

When they have a good day, they even play games. Here they are playing hide-and-seek Smile :

One shrimp carrying eggs died last week so we got the eggs carefully out. In the past days some of the eggs had to be thrown away since they were not good anymore. By today we had only 19 of 31 left. Confused

But...

Today the first little shrimp was born and healthy! The little one is very tiny.. only 2 mm! Very Happy

To compare I pasted in an adult shrimp:

Cool! Looks like a lot of fun to watch. Are shrimp difficult to care for?

They are fun indeed! And quite difficult to keep. Last months many died. The water seemed fine so maybe it was some illness or fungus.

My nano cube is only 20 liters. The smaller the tank, the more difficult it is to keep it running. There were also a lot of jumping little cyclops. The mean creatures ate a whole net of shrimp eggies in one night! So now we have 5 little fish who enjoy eating cyclops. Seems to help since all the current eggs are surviving! Smile

As a noob its difficult to do everything right but I am sure I will learn and they are way to much fun to give up that soon. And relaxing too such a shrimp tank on my desk! Very Happy

actually I used to love eating shrimps.. especially with cocktail sauce.. but now I see how they behave so cute, I think I can't anymore eat them Confused

my friend lately put his hand in the tank and the little ones immediately get nosy and checked it out. I heard you can even feed them out of your hand. Smile

but anyway.. as long as you didnt see them, you will probably still enjoy eating them... so its up to you Wink
