1) favorite (overall "best in show"): jerryhami

2) biggest surprise: how little some people notice the smaller details before dismissing an image (ReyRey's chop is a case-in-point), and how easy it is to nearly miss rather important details (jerryhami's tree being the tree from the source in this instance. - I did spot that on my third look-through, though.)

3) favorite match: jeico / claf Hardest decision for me.

4) other comments:
My favorite for sheer cleverness: ReyRey's. Almost an optical illusion ("wait, that tree was in front of the pump, wasn't it?" *compares to source*), I thought it was that well done. I can see the cracked paint between the leaves now that you mention it, but I saw the inner workings of the pump before. And the added rust, etc.
My favorite for story / emotional response: dewking's. Actually, I thought it was well-done, too.
Jerry's is still, by far, my pick for overall "best in show."

All were excellent, and yes, imagine that real life would DARE to intervene on an internet contest. As an old timer who remembers when Dewking was posting in the daily contests, it gives me great E-joy to see him advance so far in the H2H. Yay Dewk!

I would just like to say that I am proud to have been spanked in round two by Jerryhami. . .the redness and swelling has gone down, but seeing his work since he ran me over has been a pleasure.

But its better than lying. Im just saying that they were both disappointing entries in my opinion. As each round goes on the entries should be getting better and better. The source wasnt THAT bad (Round 4 source was worse).

I stand by my statement. You should take it as constructive criticism instead as an insult...hell i KNOW FOR A FACT that you are both much better choppers than i am...you made it to round 5 after all which is WAY better than i could have ever imagined myself getting to.

Constructive Criticism vs Posting Feelings about "Art"

I'm going to give my unasked for opinion since I'm home alone and bored. Any responses to this that attempt to draw me into a Forum Fight will be Futile. I'm not that bored.

Examples:
I don't like either one of these, but this one is less painful to my eyes.
I like this one better, the shadows seem to work more, and while the idea is a bit psycho, it made me laugh. The other one was a good idea, but the colors seemed a bit off and the shadows were skewed.

I expect more from the H2H than this.
I was a bit disappointed in the quality of posts in this match up...I guess you guys were busy this week since your previous posts clearly show you have more PS Skilz. This one gets my vote because ____________

Looks like you had fun making this...you might want to use the "sharpen" tools and filters a bit less next time...I'm guessing your vision was a bit blurred?

Simple steps to be more constructive in giving criticism:

1) use positive language (DO instead of DON'T - and avoid insulting words like "sucks")

2) balance out suggestions for improvement with at least one positive comment.

This has been a good reminder to all of us, including me: If you can't say anything nice (or helpful), don't say anything at all. "..."
