So I just finished a chop for this upcoming week and I want to submit it.

Normally I duplicate the original PSD file and then flatten the new file and save it as a jpg to be submitted. I've never had a problem with this and it seemed to me to make the most sense.

Now I went to go do this for my new chop, but when I duplicate it, certain parts of the image are coming out wayyyy brighter than I want them to. I'm frankly not sure whats going wrong...or how to fix it.

Any suggestions would be quite welcome. Thanks!

You must have a huge hard drive!
No need to duplicate your psd. Flatten and do any post work you need to do with it. Go directly to Save for Web, size it then name it. When it asks if you want to Save....click NO.

This way you have your original psd intact and your sized jpg.

See...this is one of the reasons that I (mostly lurk) come to this website. I wouldn't have known that.

Certain parts of the image are still coming out brighter, though. If the whole image was a bit brighter, I'd be much more willing to accept it.

Oh nevermind. I figured it out.

For some reason, when the file was duplicated or being saved for the web, it was messing up the color mode. It was being changed from RGB/8/CMYK to RGB/8. Changing the duplicated file back to CMYK mode worked.

I wonder why this was happening. Hrmm...
