That's why I hate gifs, so unrealistic. I've been staring at this for 5 minutes and her tittie never pops out. Laughing

ok if i may... jim you and everyone else are talented here on the site... argument #1 not everyone uses photoshop... ( some use gimp and correl draw or what ever etc) i personally have tried my fair share of gifs... #2 martrex and TWK have been nice e-nuf in the past to teach me a thing or two about the file type... martrex doesn't use image ready fyi TWK uses image ready... a gif is a file type that is acceptable per PSC last time i checked... #3 what the hell do i know? but i guess if the different file types are allowed for uploading on the site then its ligit... with that said i remember that not to many gifs were usually uploaded back then.. so maybe times as usuall on PSC have changed? either way gif or no gif many talents seem to amaze me over time and my hat is off to all those that inspire the up and coming choppers here on this great site

I love gifs! (quite like that one that Rey posted above too!).....
...and I don't think there's any lack of photoshop skills involved in doing one. Sure you can hide a few imperfections that may not show up in an optimised gif, but on the whole, I always used to chop gifs as full size/hi res images. Most involved some PS manipulation or clean up, and some up to 30-40 frames (this can become a real chore!). Quite a few of my gifs actually started as static images before I decided on animating them. I remember when we had lots of gifs here with Andy, Sean, Ted and Co. submitting on a regular basis. Hell, Anfa has done some wicked gifs, and Vok (as mentioned above). We even got Rey to do one once (with some serious badgering).
Seeing a good one always inspires me to want to chop myself. In fact, I might have a look through the upcoming sources and see if anything grabs me. I had actually started a gif for the 'I feel flattened' contest, but never got around to finishing it.
Just to chew up some bandwidth, I'm going to post a few below. While some are fairly simple, others involved hours of work. Some required big cleanup jobs before even thinking about animating them. The night time flashing light ones require heaps of work on frame timing. There's perspective issues, shadows and blur. The bouncing boobs took ages to get the right bounce!
Anyway, enjoy.

To Gif, or not to Gif, that is the question...
People love moving pictures and that is fact.

1. I think that making Gif is PS skill
2. In time many great chops are neglected because some funny looking moving thingy...
3. I think that Gifs should and must stay on PSC, but wish they are in separate contests.

I'm used that my desires usually are not fulfilled - that is just opinion.

Sorry Sir....but i think that your rule n.3 is in contrast with rule n.1

Rule n.2. What's the meaning of chop?...........

One day a week Question

Seperate contest is not a bad idea also. Cause you can't compare gifs and chops... imo.
I love a good gif. In this thread you see lots of examples/reasons why Wink
But there are always people who don't vote for gifs. If they are in a seperate contest, the gifs and the chops get the attention they have a right to.

And this all in my awesome blurry English! Laughing
