I found this timely what with the "Satan in a washcloth" thread.

Want something truly unique to decorate you home/office/torture chamber?

Then Buy This Thing!

Oh and BTW I am NOT the seller!

Haha totally agree with you DOC. My first thought when I saw it was "gee, wonder why the kids were scared of it".

I think there's something very creepy about taxidermy for this sort of reason. I can understand it for scientific & educational reasons (in a school science lab, for example) but to feel one is somehow "preserving" one's former pet seems macabre. The body is just an empty shell, there's no life, no spirit (and you can take that in either sense - spiritual, or just simply as in "no zest, no spark".)

It reminds me of these sad cases of people who sleep with the body of their deceased partner in the bed or propped up in the living room because they can't bear to be "parted" from them. Shocked

Takes all sorts I suppose...

Haha! What - my opinion, or the bit about people living with their dead relative(s) in the house around them?

Seriously though, those kind of stories are really tragic. Like this one and this one.

Ok now I've left you all really depressed I'll go now... Shocked

(On a lighter note: is it my imagination or does the photo of the old man in the first story look like a Photoshop job? lol)

I remember reading once about a woman who would take the hair of dead pets and make slippers and scarves out of them for you, and she charged like $200! Nuts.

ROFL I love that strapline underneath!

I just couldn't believe that was real (thought nancers had put together one of her famous funny posts Razz ) until I looked it up.

But I should've realised: real life is crazier than fiction - or Photoshop artists - can make it!

I thought it was a chop at first! Does that mean I'm too cynical?

But I read the article and found it was real. I would've taken it in if it hadn't died. I thought it was kinda cute. But with no nose it was probably doomed from the start since it couldn't breathe and eat/suckle at the same time.
