I would suggest trying out a few new ideas. The last one just doesn't stand out for me. But then again, it seems to have the right elements to make it as the new Photoshop logo.
Think simple, elegant, and meaningful.

it's the meaningful part i'm having trouble with....

Well it's certainly not crucial. There are plenty of successful logos that are attractive but don't have "meaning".

It would give you some direction, however. And it might impress your teacher.

Perhaps a hint of a paintbrush or a brushstroke or a pencil or a pallet.

Anything but the blobs.

a quicky, but it might help get the idea across...



maybe a few paint splotches (like those in your design) behind the type will pull it together
