cntrl+s is such a natural motion that I probably save around 3-4 times a minute on an intricate piece without interrupting the work flow at all; I don't even notice myself doing it.

still CANNOT bleeve adobe haven't incorporated an auto-save feature.

Perhaps there some kind of plugin for this?

I'm quite good at saving regulary once I do the first save that is... Recently I did a chop and after about two hours I realised the file I worked with still was called Untitled4... Saved it and after that I Ctrl+S:ed about every 5 minutes.

Also: Group your layers and color-code 'em bastards.

And, again, we DON'T HAVE AUTO-SAVE for Adobe products - this is NOT a thread about "I Wish"... if it was we could talk about all the "I WISH" my computer didn't crash, and "I WISH" I had saved my shite, and "I WISH" I had spent that .08 seconds hittings the SAVE shortcut.

Anything that is automatic tends to take away your power and minimizes your ability to master something. I'm not saying AUTOMATIC is bad, but know how it works manually first. That is why many photoshoppers figure out the long way to create those "automatic" filters in photoshop. Once they've mastered the concept then they will tend to go with the automatic - but they now understand what is going on "under the hood".

BUT BUT BUT Auto-Save would be almost equivalent to AUTO-BRAKES in a automobile. I'll trust the vehicle to shift gears by itself, but since my life depends on it I'LL do the braking myself, thank you!

[this morning's Automotive Metaphore has been brought to you by Maxwell House - good to the last droop!]

I name and group everything (usually) but I've never color-coded anything, even in huge files. I guess it might help, never really bothered with it before.

AND don't forget when there are storms even within 60 miles of your house (you don't have to wait til there's a lightning strike in your neighborhood!!) besides saving your work, save you and your computer by

A. shutting down your computer
B. unplugging your computer from the wall socket
C. if you have a phone line plugged into your computer, unplug that from your computer!

go read a book until the storms are way past your area! don't go take a shower or go do the dishes or laundry.... we want you to be safe to come back to play on PSC, not electrocuted!
