I don't know how much we can REALLY trust Grefix's opinion about WEB things when he doesn't even know how to post a SINGLE entry on these threads!

I confess that while I do web design, I then pass the layered Photoshop files to a programmer...my skills are more in the design, so I work with associates who are good at the more technical aspects (that I find a bit boring!!)...

Very Happy

MellowGal has a very good point here: you DON'T have to do it all yourself. Many many folks split the duty. Some of us don't mind dipping into the Geek Waters, but others of us NEVER should. Shocked

Getting clear on what parts you REALLY like about website creation is important! One of the reasons that I just shut down my 8 year old design company was that I was doing ALL the parts. I really like the design, and not very much the code/maintainance parts. After you've run your business for a few years (and you don't piss off your clients) you are going to be doing a LOT more maintainance than design on your older sites. Make sure you are okay with that. If not, then find a good tech-savy person now to partner or associate with.

I personally burned out on the Maintainance side, and in the end had to let go the creative side as well. (though I'm REALLY happy with my new re-branding of BrilliantEye.ca so, as usual in Life, it all works out in the longer run! Wink)

I'm a webdesigner since flash 3 (that was quite a long time ago), and frankly, I'm sick of it... I really can't stand it anymore. BUt hey... I'm manic depressive... I tend to get sick of stuff after a while. When I used to do it, I used to like it. So go for it.

HI GREF MISSED YA!
I have dreamweaver and frontpage expressions.
i use expressions.- it's gone way beyond the old frontpage these guys are familiar with and is much more user friendly than dreamweaver and it finds and fixes much more dependably.
flash8 (not user friendly at all-my brain is esploding from it-watch many video lessons) and unless you're really gonna be a flash master try the free flash generator at
http://sproutbuilder.com/ it works-it's super easy- fast enough- a little limited but for animated logos and stuff like that--yay
images created and sliced on cs2
any code for specials come from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/
common license images http://www.sxc.hu/
some raw material for templates come from
your best friend "OPEN SOURCE"- google it plus 'templates' or whatever

oh- and if you decline to watch the video or make use of this next link- then i hate you

my personal experience, never trust a guy who says he's excellent in design and in programming Smile.

It's like an architect who can single handedly build your house too. (or vice versa)

HI SCION, BEEN A LONG TIME EH

true... I never done php programming in my sites... although I did all the AS programming... and I say to you the AS programming was harder than the frigging semi-ready PHP scripts the programmers did...
