Those are some pretty good, obscure artsy films, but my personal favorite would have to be "LÇ€§ MÜsGat". Its pretty obscure. In fact, it's so obscure you can't google it and it was filmed in a language you haven't even heard of.
Take that!

you gotta see the Darren Aronofsky trilogy

Pi The Movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ1sZSCz47w
Max, a number theorist, theorizes that everything in nature can be understood through numbers, and that if you graph the numbers properly patterns will emerge. He is working on finding patterns within the stock market, using its billions upon billions of variables as his data set with the assistance of his homemade supercomputer

Requiem For A Dream
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgo3Hb5vWLE
exposes four paralleled individuals and their menacing addiction to heroin, cocaine, and diet pills (speed)

The Fountain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExXcSLLwcUg
Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, 'The Fountain' is a bold story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world.

Other than the fact that that Tarantino is in it and doin his usual shitty bit of acting ( I'll give him a break for his role in Pulp Fiction)...IT CAN'T GO WRONG!

my opinion on your selection:

ALL TIME FAVE: Stand By Me (very good coming of age drama, this is in my top 10 ever)

Never Ending Story (Oh my god nooooooooooo)

Big (A classic for me, reminds me of my youth, me and my sis used to sing the shimmy shimmy coco pop song all the time, and the wee wee jacks bit.. quite sad to many, but hey I was young, the memories are good. Also my mum won the VCR in a comp 4 months before general release, and it had the price on it of £124 (about $240) good times)

Heat (This is one fine film, I can't think of anything wrong with it, Pacino and De Niro in the same film.... come oooon thats pure gold right there)

The Burbs (Another funny childhood film, not as god as Big, but watchable for the funnies)

Money Pit (I am seeing a theme coming here, like Tom Hanks aaron by any chance lol. This to is throw away funnies)

Milo & Otis (not seen)

Anything Chevy Chase!!! (should this not read, anything Chevy Chase should be burned)

A River Runs Through It (Yeah this is solid, not a fave, but good)

Big Daddy (you either like Sandler or you don't.... I happen to like him, although there was a time I dispised him... what can I say, he improved lol

Three Kings (story is mental, action is good, dialogue is throw away, together, watchable and quite fun)

Saving Private Ryan (the rest of the story pales in comparison to the instantly classic cinema of the first 26 minutes, superb, shame the rest of the film sort of trailed off)

Shawn of The Dead (Ha, you gotta watch Hot Fuzz if you liked this Aaron. Shawn of the dead only us English can do, classic British comedy, using the crap overall special effects, barring some parts, as one of the finest visual laughs, just as we always do. Rule number 1, comedy films, should not look amazing, they need to look a little crap Wink )

The Village (Not bad, not bad at all, although, wow, crap not scary monster lol)

The Matrix (I wanted to marry this film when I saw it in '99 the sequels did not totally deliver, but to do so the first film needed to not be as good as it was, it raised the bar far to high, and the hype machine took over as it so often does, leading to mass anti climax. But by itself, The Matrix is one of the finest films I can think of.)

V for Vendetta (Sorry, thought this was nothing short of utter bullshite)

Lord of War (Yeah love Nick Cage, this is a very nicely rounded film)

Jarhead (amazingly somehow yet to see this, note to self, watch it Razz )

Golden Compass (Watching this week, ordered it from amazon for the kids Smile so get back to you on this)

Wall-E (Pixar in my eyes can do no wrong, hate that they are part of Disney, and Disney think its all about them and they are the real genius', but thats another story, this film is bravely different for an animation in its single character approach opening, very cool, and very watchable. Superb)

Stop-Loss <-------- MUST SEE!!! (hmmm not seen, will take your advice, to amazon with me, high ho slver... and awaaaaaaaaay)

Talk about the guy who talked up movies... I'm sorry to hear about Don LaFontaine, I'm sure he'll be missed around here. Crying or Very sad

This was the first movie I ever saw at the theater, it came out in 1963, I'd say special EFX have gotten a little better since then Wink But as a little kid, this movie was great.

LOVE MOVIES! Star Wars has got my vote for being so far ahead of it's time, But I think the new ones kinda ruined the Lucas name as far as Jar-Jar Binks goes!

Other faves are:
Goodfellas- Best mob movie vote
Lord of the rings- Best idea
Big Lebowski- Funniest
Die Hard- All time greatest action
