I'm writing this letter just to tell you
that taxes have taken away
the things that I really needed:
my workshop, my reindeer, my sleigh.

Now I'm making my rounds on a donkey.
He's old and crippled and slow,
so you'll know if you don't see me on Christmas,
I'll be out on my ass in the snow.



I read this in elementary school more than forty years ago. Still works for me.

The way the economy is going Santa will be out of a job in less than 3 months, probably selling tacos outside the bus station.
