Okay - I know that at least TWO of you have been loosing sleep while you think "I wonder how ReinMan made out after that CRAZY Xmas Eve snowstorm?".

Well - update time:

The snow stopped yesterday and being christmas day very little snow removal happened. On most streets there is a couple lanes open, covered in thick salt-induced SLUSH.

On the side streets / secondary streets there is usually only one lane open and all the cars parked along the side of the road are locked in under a couple feet of snow.

Today, it is VERY SOFTLY snowing... that weird lite powdery snow that almost looks like it isn't there. Falling REAL slow and rather hynotizing!

That, along with the strange melting snow shapes on my balcony, is making this all rather surreal around here today.

Currently it is just below the freezing point, so all the snow that softened up yesterday is now frozen ROCK SOLID (Anfa? don't get all excited now! Laughing)

I suspect, that with all the snow and ice refrozen over night, and now with the Very Lite And Mysterious Snow falling over that, there will be some SERIOUS slipping and sliding today as well.

The rescue St. Bernard returned today, limping on a sore paw and complaining about the icy and dangerous conditions.

Of course, his brandy keg is empty so that may just be a ruse.

I also found lipstick on his collar . . . . . . I am not quite sure what to make of that. Confused

I think you might be on your own ReinMan. salut

Yay SLUSH! It destroys your shoes and rots your mind! And in two days we get 20~30 cm of rainfall. Can you say "SUPER SLUSH"? Sure - I knew you COULD! Wink

We are so used to UMBRELLAS here on the Wet Coast that we even use them when it snows - this woman is calling a friend to see if she can borrow his shovel - he MAY misinterpret this request (of COURSE he will - he's a MAN! Rolling Eyes Laughing):

So there was room, a couple hours ago, for at least ONE vehicle to go by in the streets...

Not so much anymore - this new storm is coming down hard. The above red van is currently stuck in front of our apartment. They have chains on the tires but it is stuck up on top of all the snow in the street, so it is basically JACKED UP off the ground and the wheels have no pressure on the road. I'd go out and help push them but I just got in from shovelling the driveway and sidwalks here (we have 50+ flats in our building and we are all taking turns helping the superintendant with this storm issue) and I'm sore enough already. They'll just have to wait until spring to get that van out, I guess. Huh..

Exciting Developement!
The two dudes below are on their way to save the STRANDED RED VAN! Yes, the Boxing Day Turkey will still get delivered! YAY!

The picture below will give you some idea of the amount of snow we have gotten in the last couple days (AGAIN - please remember that we normally get RAIN for Christmas! I'm not saying we got more snow than ALASKA, but this is a LOT for us Western Coastal Canucks!)

And NEXT WE'LL TALK ABOUT EMERGENCY FOOD STOCKS during this GREAT EMERGENCY.... reindeer

Due to the winter-like conditions outside, the makings of our Seasonally Enjoyed Rum n' Cokes await our attention on your balcony.

Yes, you are RIGHT! That is the SAME balcony that the now snow-covered Great Natural Ice Sculpture was located on. Glad you were paying attention. Very Happy

Inside: We are prepared for the worse!

So I'm sitting here surrounded by happy snacks. We got mandarin oranges, blue corn chips, red pepper dip, dark chocolate almonds, big frickin grapes and a blue tin box full of rum balls...

And somewhere behind all those xmas cards is some Booze! Very Happy
