The voting here is, has been, and always will be a mystery to me. I like to title my images with something that will give (additional) meaning to the chop and sometimes it's actually more fun with a title... but that's just me I guess...

or maybe I'm just a Pretentious Wanker. Wink

Hiya, stoner. I don't think I've ever disrespected you...and I don't know what you mean. It appears that you've started a controversial thread. I'd have never guessed so many ppl were swayed by a mere title over a clever or imaginative image.

go figure.

For all I care, you can go fuck yourself. You think I give a damn if you vote for me? You're just one more person pissing this site down the drain.

I would like to argue that the title does in fact attract more attention to your entry, but the truth is... it doesn't matter if you have a damn novel as a title, if your image sucks it sucks.

Now be nice to each other

a goat? I hear goats are delicious if prepared correctly, the following is one of my favorite recipes to make a delicious goat meal.

* 1 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
* 4 to 6 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
* 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 2tablespoons dried leaves)
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
* 1 tablespoon ground pimiento (allspice)
* 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 cup of soy sauce
* 1 very hot pepper, chopped,
* or teaspoon hot pepper oil
* 1 leg of goat with bone in

Mix or puree together the onions, garlic, soy sauce, and spices to form a paste. Pierce the leg of goat all over and rub the paste all over the meat. Any unused paste (also known as "jerk rub" can be stored in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to a month for later use). Cover or wrap in foil and refrigerate overnight to allow spices to penetrate meat.
Preheat the oven to 400 F. Sear the meat loosely covered with foil in a roasting pan at 400 F for 15 minutes and then reduce heat to 350 F. Roast meat for another hour or two depending on weight() until the internal temperature reaches 150 to 160 F. Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes of cooking.
If you use a tougher cut such as a neck roast for cooking, plan on a longer cooking time and on marinating the meat in a mixture of beer and lemon juice overnight. Put the jerk rub on it in the morning and then cook in the afternoon

I agree with Jerry. Voting trends are generally beyond explanation - with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I’ve learned, over time, to take contest results at face value. Although I would never pass up a nice composition simply because of its title, I have given pause to images that contain lengthy and often unnecessary explanations/descriptions.

For example, I simply can’t stand comments like “300 layers, 46.5 hours of work, extended and resized primary, replaced secondary, all source, 2.6 externals, adapted construct, late entry, PS work, texture, hand-drawn, multiple elements, shadow reconstruction, lotta’ work here”…what a bunch of Quantity vs. Quality Ass-Crap.

I do however get “go big”. That – in my opinion - is perfectly reasonable.

Essentially by annotating your self-proclaimed masterpiece-minutia, you’re making a value judgment on me: your PSC peer and voter. You seem to be saying “This ass-monkey will never rise to my level of digital artistry and therefore could never understand – or appreciate – how, or why, I utilized the clone-stamp tool - 1600 times”.

It’s not that I wouldn’t (or haven’t) voted for a high-descript image, It’s just - as mentioned - I do take pause.

Give your peers some credit! They can figure out what you’ve accomplished...including time, effort, passion and skill without an insulting, school-house-self-promoting explanation.

What's the big deal about a title on an entry? There's nothing wrong with topping off a nice entry with a catchy name, witty pun or simple description. Like 202, I'm more put off with a lengthy diatribe underneath an entry than what's on top. I just cannot see what the big deal is......

......and please be nice to Eve!
