i have a question ...i took an art class and this girl in my class helped me with a picture using her photoshop she took the picture turned it into black and white only and it looked distorted a bit jagged around the edges i made a grid on it and then painted it on canvas. using only black and white . there is not really much detail to this photo.....can someone please tell me what it is called that she messed with to get this picture to look this way????.....is it the resolution? i want to do a photo of my daughter the same way but i am not sure how to do it..please help

It would help you get more response if you were to post the image for us to see what you are talking about. Or the address to somewhere where you have the image stored. Very Happy Very Happy

Perhaps you mean something like this:



I did this in a few seconds in Paint Shop Pro by increasing the contrast on a kid's picture, then running the Threshold function set at 130. I assume PhotoShop has something similar. Try looking up "threshold" in PS Help.

Besides Threshold, one other way could be to:

Desaturate -> Posterize Level 2 -> then use any of the blurs to soften the edges to ones liking. A second level grey retains more details and can be manipulated from pure white to black using Levels or Curves.

(seriously, it WOULD help if we could see the image that the original poster was talking about. Otherwise, my guess here is as good as any - and that is just SAD Sad )
