very fun task this...
i had no idea, no concept and no experience with this - but certainly a lot of fun
here is what i got:

Based on the above chop, I believe a big part of 'cartoonifying' a car would be to tree-transform it quite a bit to give it an exaggerated caricature look. It would probably help to extract the car from the background first.

Thanks for posting the Pixar Tut via Dragon, I'll have a look and give it a try.

Been stuck at work the last 2 days so I haven't spent much time playing, but this is what I'm up to.



I love Dunno's version, looks great especially the painted in nose grill.

I would have copied that technique but it probably takes it a bit further than I wanted too, (I know, no pleasing some people!)

And I agree with Vokaris and warping the car, I'll wait til I take a better shot of it, lighting & location.

Played with it. extracted from background, removed some intense reflections and warped it a little for a more "Cars" feeling
