K,k,k that's the old style way, an other way is using the Gradient Mesh but I'm not really into that maybe check some tuts...

guess, you have adobe illustrator too? place your image in a new document, and click on "interactive something" on top in menu bars. dont know the exact term in english, because using a german version (interaktiv abpausen). then you get a dialogbox, click on preview and play with the settings. maybe this will be enough to bring some useable results.

Why don't you buy the actual Halloween mask and take a picture of it?

Try the site I suggested with Vokaris' high-res jpeg.
You'll get a vector that's virtually indistinguishable from the photo.

Can't they get sued for using that mask?
