The rules to vote are as follows:

---> 2. You must have posted at least 10 images of your own.
3. You must select a vote quality.
4. You cannot vote for your own post.
5. You cannot vote for an entry more than once.
6. You cannot vote more than 25 times in a single contest.
7. You cannot vote for the same entry more than once from the same ip address.

SCWIDVICIOUS, sorry you feel number 2 is a problem, but it's not. What else is to keep someone from joining, posting a piece of carp, then calling everyone he/she knows and asking them to come to the site and vote for the garbage or setting up a dozen aliases so they can vote for themselves.

So, yeah, you have to earn your right to vote, that's why we keep saying STFUAC. It ain't no big thing, you should be here to chop anyway.

the way things are going i don't think anyone is going to break any high scores soon...

in the swan contest this week the winner had only 18 votes...
that's about what the winners got back when there were only 10 votes to cast...

i'm just saying.....

This is the season for exams, vacations, and playing outside in the real world. The bad weather and dreary workdays will come back soon, and so will the playing in the PSC world. Don't worry about having too many votes to spare. Looking at the number of viewers there are on lots of entries that do get votes.... there are tons of people who would be happy with only ONE vote per CONTEST... they would not even use that one. It happens.

I must say one factor for low numbers of entries are the sources. I myself, one time have a lot of free time to chop and I relly want to but after hours of thinking of a good idea, there's nothing. I can chop but I really want something good result . I think most of the choppers also have this problem most of the time, lol!

One solution I can think of is putting at least 3 sources in each contest. It's easier to come up with an idea and more fun to do integrations. Let's have changes for good.

Ofcourse, when there are more entries there will be more votes coming from those who have entries. I'm not saying that I vote only when I have an entry but let's face the fact, more entries more votes. I noticed that there are more non advantage or newbies chopping now. Each time a contest opens only few entries from advantage members then entries from non advantage members start coming in. And it's because the sources are really not good to chop for the old members. Newbies are excited to chop anything.

I disagree abraham, we cant blame the sources because we cant think of any thing to chop, that's our fault, and even if some of the source images are not that great in resolution we should be able to correct some things to a degree.

I think we want it all to easy now days, lets get back to 7 days advantage, with 1 day a week speed chopping. No voting for the source they come as they come and we the "artists" should be able to apply our skills to the best of our ability.

To much weight is placed on vpp or how many votes or the stats or just plan winning. I think we have forgot that this is a fun site and chopping should be fun, lets remember that. This place cycles back and forth with posts and chopping always has and always will. We just need to make it the best we can when we can.

No Blue, to say that too much weight is placed on vpp or how many votes or the stats or just plain winning is totally pointless, I mean it has nothing to do with the dwindling of entries and votes. It's actually much easier to win now regardless of quality or idea you have in your entry because of few entries submitted and seasoned choppers are not around. What I am pointing is the fun and joy of chopping. To come up with a good idea and good execution, to have a good end result, satisfaction. What I am suggesting is that the sources should have the 'it' factor. Just looking at the sources for this week, july 5-11, already frustrate me. We must put considerations on sources we put here, good source produces good entries. Challenging is not enough, it must be choppable to the max, lol.

See the sources, entries, number of entries and votes the same time from the past years. http://photoshopcontest.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=255385#255385

then see and compare the sources now

Perhaps the number of votes should be dependant on the amount of entries and change acordingly. Maybe a set percentage of the entries posted. Question

I suggested this a few years ago.
People posting late entries could be a problematic factor though...hmmmmm
