What do you guys think of Microsoft's new search engine called Bing!? Shocked

Is it really necessary?

That noise. What was it?
- What are you talking about?
<bing!>
THAT noise! There it goes again!
<bing!>
- Oh, that's just the sound FAIL makes.

It's not crappy at all. Most searches seem to mirror Google so exactly that I believe they must be partnered with them for common searches,
however...
Bing is easily the most accurate , and useful search engine for technical searches, and educational resources yet.
Definitely worth a bookmark, and a must for students.

I disagree with you Joey. We home school, as well as operate a network of 250 other home schooling families, and I have never seen much that is awe inspiring or worth while coming out of Microsoft for education. Nor would I go out of my way to trust any Microsoft endeavor based on their well documented unethical marketing practices from the past.

We homeschool, and since you obviously have found a better alternative for educational searches, I'd be glad to hear what that is.

It really all depends on what range your kids are at and what information it is you're after. For directories its Yahoo. For both casual as well as specific boolean engineered searches its Google. And our most current, favorite of all search tools for this last month has been using and exploring Wolfram. A very powerful resource for our college bound teens.

Bing's safe mode allows more inappropriate material through than Live Search did. We don't allow image searches at our school as a result.

It's still new so give it a shot...the image search part is kinda cool, you can select only face or head / shoulders, black / white, photo / illustration...etc.

That's just awesome. Feel free to toss stuff that good my way any time.
I love when people come up with something way better than you could possibly have expected.
