I know this has been raised before, and it was a while ago so here goes again.

Is it possible to allow Portrait sized images as source images?

There have been so many good images I have wanted to post that could be a good source but the restriction on Portrait wont allow them to be uploaded.

So what do others think?

Blurk, I never really understood the logic in this requirement either.
We're artists, we should be able to do portraits and landscapes!!!

I understand there should be a max/min requirement. Things can only be so wide or so high. But should it have any barring on portrait or landscape?

till then...

I agree with Blue, i've been wondering about this for I while.
I have plenty of good images for sources but all are portrait.

And then there's GIF's !

I was being sarcastic. Technically the restriction isn't necessary. A 960x1280px file rotated to 1280x960px is the same size (in bytes).

As to the implementation of new size restrictions, I can't say when or if it will happen. I'll bring it up in the developers forum.

Start off with a white background @ 1280 x 960, and drop your portrait version onto it, so it has white sides that you don't see, PSC will see the image as 1280 x 960 even though it's maybe 800 x 960, yes it will be a little smaller, but that's the trade off if you want to submit an image like that Wink

This image is on a canvas that is 1280 x 960

Ok I know there are ways around this, what Im trying to say is
"WHY DO WE HAVE THIS RESTRICTION"
Would love an answer from one of the coders as to why or why not.

Thanks again Smile

I'm going to guess that has to do with how it would auto-compressed in the mid-sized thumbnail before you "click for large." Just guessing, though. We'll see what anyone in the know might have to say.
