What happened to them? I carved one up a couple weeks ago just to see how long it would withstand the weather, and after several heavy rains, and temps ranging from 50-80 degrees, it only has a bit of mold on the inside to show for it. I can't imagine what weather would have done to yours in only 4 days. Confused

heh.. well that is the strange thing, the 2 small ones fared out pretty well, but the big one with the nice teeth, well he looks like he got smashed in a party or something.

I took these about 5 min ago..

and the big nice looking one.. Sad

Yeah, I see that the exposed flesh for the teeth get nasty much more quickly, although the one with the pointy rotten teeth looks great now. Wink

This is why I am keeping the ones I carve in the backyard until it's Halloween, so that punks don't smash them.

ohh, no one actually smashed him..

I guess he got drunk and fell on his own.

I just moved it into the yard to get it off the porch this morning. His juices are attracting some unwelcome critters with stingers.

that one that held up is gnarly looking now.. heh.

hmm...that's odd. Maybe the walls of the pumpkin you used are really thin? My test pumpkin's interior is pretty much solid mold now, and even goes straight through to the back, and it has two inches of water in it, but it's still holding up really well.

the small one with the nasty pointy teeth is rather hard to the touch, as if he has hardened himself.

the small one, feels like a baseball.

The big one, it is as if after i carved him, he statred rotting at an accelerated rate. he just got super soft and mushy.

when he started sagging, i reached down to roll him up, and my fingers just went swish, and i was stuck holding fingers full of pumpkin rot.

I soaked them all in cold water before and after the carving which is supposed to help.
the big one just didn't wanna play nice Rolling Eyes

Maybe I didn't feed him enough human flesh.

Here are some of them. Crappy photos for the most part, but you get the idea. Not all of my jack-o-lanterns are featured here; my camera's battery died before I could get them all. Damn Sony and their 30-second battery life. Rolling Eyes
Most of these look better in person, of course.

Nice Mason!

I seem to remember something about mixing bleach and water in a spray bottle and then using that to mist the interior and carved exterior of a pumpkin to make it last longer. Can't remember if it worked or not though. Have to remember to try it next year! Wink
