So. Spyder3 Pro showed up on Friday. Brought it to work this morning and calibrated my monitors.

Now the colors seem to be okay but sheesh it seems soooo much darker now. Even the white of PSC's layout seems to be more of a light gray. Is that normal? I had to ramp up the bright all the way to even get an approximation of white. Confused

I did run the calibration without ambient light checking. Did that because the unit said the ambient light level was high (which makes sense with the 8 four-foot long fluorescent tubes above my head.

Should I set the bright back down to what it was after calibration? Or leave it up where I can actually see now?

Yeah, get back to work, ya sluggard!

A calibrated monitor always looks a bit dark to me as well.

Pfftt. I just cranked up the bright and re-calibrated. Is spiffy now. Cool

And I've have indeed stfuac'd. Problem is that they're chops for work and not for PSC. Confused

And...

Oh.

My.

Heck.

Reindude was spot on when he said the before and after of the monitor was shocking. Utterly and completely amazed at how much better this shitty monitor's color looks now.

Congratulations Tofu! Very Happy

I know exactly what you went through... and i'm sure you did not regret it one second, did you?

PS: If i remember right, the instructions of that thing mentioned somewhere, to use very less ambient light during calibration.... what was that acronym again... rtfm?
