Personally, I believe the "dumbing down" thing is making people go backwards. It is no help what so ever!

OK then. Here's what I would do. I'd ditch the 4th and 5th from the profile pages and on the portfolio pages I'd have 2 numbers above each chop that hasn't finished in the top 3. The first number represents the position finished and the second represents the number of entries in the contest it was in.
So the chop on the right came in 6th out of 40 entries.
I think that is a non patronising fair way to do it. Plus newer members can easily see the progress they are making(if they are making progress that is. lol).
Did that make sense?
love this idea... and people would be able to see that a 3/19 is far worse than a 5/95, instead of thinking that a 3 is better than a 5...

Who really gives a shit that much? Seriously. The only time your placement matters in ANY of these contests is when a prize is given out. The rest of the time it makes no difference other than to your EGO. Yeah, nice to see where you've placed in order to see if you're progressing...
But you have to remember that not everyone here is entering in every contest. So one day you can win against certain members, and then the next contest loose to a completely different group. You could win with 40 average members or loose to a small group of "top choppers". But either way it doesn't change the flipping world. Every contest is different. So do your best in the ones you enter and STFU.
The only time I get excited is when I do well against the top dogs. Like beating ReyHey in a comp. Other than that... Meh. 1st or 10th really doesn't matter to me as long as someone liked the idea I presented. I come here like TJ to have fun and get distracted from my 'real life/work'. Some of you take this site WAYYYY too seriously.
