the idea is that newer members seem to get frustrated a lot quicker than we did years ago.

And if that is the way of it then fair enough. So to let them see they are making progress and gauge how they are doing, the 4th and 5th place has been implimented to help that. We have had new members leave because of getting annoyed by this. It should not be that way, but seems to happen.

So hopefully this will help in a small way to make them aim for top 5, and keep working at it.

For those that see little point of it, fine, just ignore it, for those that like it, it is there for them too. Not like anyone has been put out by the slight adjustment. The information was there, just needed releasing.

Laughing that is quite random, over 25% 5th place ratio

hey proc... why not making it way up to the 25th then??? Ohhh... right... most contests nowadays have no more than 25 entries... got it....

this idea is stupid... it should count only to top3... I wonder how a F1 race podium would be with more than 3 spots... who was the fucktard that came up with this idea???

I think it's you that's "having one of those days" with this piss weak idea. I think the 4th and 5th place thing should be removed. It's an embarrassment that we can't get choppers that are willing to put in more effort to reach the top 3 place in a contest but instead have to be patted on the back and told they are doing great. This sucks!

feel free to make suggestions to improve the site and community. From what I have heard, the plus far outweighs the negative on this one. No idea ever goes down 100% well here, so what ya gonna do.

really??? does that explains the decrease in the quality of the entries over the years too? cause if you think you're doing great with a 4th and 5th, why put more effort on the entries to make a 1st?

I'm with anfa on this one. 4th and 5th was a bad idea. It only encourages people to not try better to make a 1st...

No matter how many places is shown at the profile stats, only one counts to me- the first one. I think people looking at those stats will mostly focus on top three.

If I keep my reading glasses on I'll be able to focus on the top three.

Otherwise, it is all blurry shite to me.

(Hmmm... even when I put my glasses on most of the stuff around this site seems to be Blurry Shite... Razz )

I seriously doubt someone would sit in front of their computer and say... "Hmm, now what can I do with this source to make a nice 5th place entry? 1st through 3rd place are too glamorous for me. I strive for mediocrity."

OK then. Here's what I would do. I'd ditch the 4th and 5th from the profile pages and on the portfolio pages I'd have 2 numbers above each chop that hasn't finished in the top 3. The first number represents the position finished and the second represents the number of entries in the contest it was in.

So the chop on the right came in 6th out of 40 entries.

I think that is a non patronising fair way to do it. Plus newer members can easily see the progress they are making(if they are making progress that is. lol).

Did that make sense?
