{{Restarted project since I posted this.}} Started the blank project as an ActionScript 2 file instead of 3, and had no issue, so I guess it has something to do with that, though I have no idea what at this point.. thanks for reading, pondering, etc. It's been over 3 hours on a simple school animation. I'm pooped!

--------------------

This must be the simplest request E.V.E.R. so forgive me. I am in a graphics/multimedia class for Flash and Fireworks.

The tutorial in the textbook showed us how to make a button and assign an actionscript to it. We made a reset button and a start button.

The next part of the assignment is to make an intro screen for a website. It is a little clip of paw prints changing color as they are "walking" across the screen with a pet store logo on it. There is to be a "skip intro" button that will take you to the end of the movie.

Seemed easy. I made my store logo, my color changing paw prints, then my skip intro button. I test the button. I can hover over it and press it in testing and it changes color as I wanted (to match the paw prints).

Next, to make the skip intro button take you to the end of the movie. I click on the button, then on the actions window, and I do not get the b_skip button in the action script window under current selection, nor am I able to get the global functions choice to show up when I click the add new item to the script icon.

Any idea on what the heck is going on?? I've been staring at this stupid button for an HOUR or more, and I just can't see why I can't get it to work.

I hope I am being clear enough. Being a beginner with flash, I am not 100% fluent with the "lingo".

Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions!

Maybe this screen shot will help??

I wish I could help you Del, but the only flash work I did got me arrested twice...but you did not want to know that huh.

When I built my web site I did use the following sites for some quick answers.
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash.html
http://www.flashperfection.com/
Hope they may help you

LOL! Thanks anyway!

I am sure it is something mundane and simple, but I just can't see what the problem is. I had ZERO issues with following the tutes in the textbook to make 2 buttons before trying my own, so I don't get it.

Was a stinky day at work, maybe it just has my brain fried. Grrr....

I'm going to guess look at the keyframe dots for the skip side by side wouldn't they be at beginning and end of run and what ever is set to happen be between them?
Hope that helps. Maybe check out a video tutorial on buttons to get another point of view on set up of buttons to maybe catch what might have slipped by.

Good Luck
Marty

It's been awhile since I dabbled in Flash, but don't you have to convert the button to a movie clip?

That sounds like something to try. Select the button and hit F8? See if Movie-Clip is selected and then OK. See if you can add a script then.
