if they ask you what program do you use to change the day pic, then it is assummed that you don´t use only photoshop. Otherwise, users that doesn´t use photoshop shouldn´t be allowed to post (if that was in any way possible)... AND if animated gifs aren´t banned, it is because they are allowed... (hellooooouuuuuuu!!!)

That´s it. I´ve said it.
I new here and may not have a right to say sh_t. But as my soap box is super glued to the bottom of my feet, here it goes.

For years I’ve been listening to fellow photographers moan and wine that using photoshop required technological ability but NOT artistic talent. (Yes you read that right)

Now I hear photoshoppers moaning and wining about gifs the use of filter, Paintshop, etc.

My point here is shouldn’t this be about peoples skill and vision as artist, not about the tools used. If you like the finished product give a vote, if not don’t. Does anyone give a rats azz what kind of brush Picasso used.

You should also consider the fact that photoshop is a very expensive chunk of software. And some folks might be forced to use paintshop or photopaint or whatever. Or did I miss the part on the registration page that said you have to be well-to-do to be a member.
You can "Jump to" ImageReady FROM Photoshop, so you could actually consider ImageReady a tool of Photoshop, just like texturing or liquify.

Anybody else notice the Low-VPPers are the ones shouting boohoo?

im not a gif fan, i believe the argument here is not what software you use (ignore the name of the site for one moment) but your finished result. in the finished result, gifs tend to be larger, slower loading, less artistic.. the fact that it is an animation often draws away from the attention to detail while rushing to complete more than is necessary for entry (more frames), if one spends more time making a single still image i believe more pleasing results are often acheived.

This site is called PhotoshopContest.com and this means that you must use photoshop only. If you do not only use photoshop, then you are in violation of section code 113 of the PSC ordinance.
